In November 2011, Teatro da Garagem opened the Café da Garagem, a space of culture and conviviality intimately linked to the artistic life of the company. Decorated with theatrical objects and references to the texts of Carlos J. Pessoa staged by TG, the Café extends, in an informal and accessible way, the aesthetic and conceptual universe of the project.

One of its main assets is the view over the city of Lisbon. At Café da Garagem, Lisbon reveals itself differently: suspended, observed from a distance, inviting a less hurried and more available gaze. This unique vantage point transforms the Café into a place of permanence, contemplation and encounter.

At Café da Garagem, visitors can enjoy a light meal before or after the show, have a tea or a glass of wine and linger in a space that invites conversation, listening and sharing. More than a support for theatrical activity, the Café asserts itself as an autonomous place of cultural conviviality, open to the city and its audiences.

Throughout the year, the Café hosts concerts, poetry sessions, recitals and thematic conversations, in conjunction with the artistic and pedagogical activities promoted by Teatro da Garagem, reinforcing its role as an active cultural space where reflection and pleasure coexist.

From 2026, Café da Garagem also organizes the Noites Dada (Dada Nights), a regular cycle inspired by the spirit of rupture, irreverence and bewilderment associated with Dadaism. These nights propose hybrid experiences — between word, sound, gesture and performative action — exploring the absurd, the unexpected and critical provocation as forms of artistic encounter.

The Noites Dada da Garagem take on their own version, garagiana, marked by discernment, self-criticism and a self-ironic subtlety, where bewilderment is understood as a creative tool, irreverence as a thoughtful gesture and humour as a space for sharing.

Café da Garagem thus asserts itself as a playful and provocative space, of reflection and enjoyment, where culture and conviviality meet — a breath of fresh air in sometimes suffocating times, and a place where Lisbon shows itself, indeed, in a different way.
