22 JUN 2018 | 9:30 p.m. | TEATRO TABORDA
ALL ON STAGE IN JUNE! is a cycle promoted by Teatro da Garagem, in which the Company invites to come up on stage the people with whom a work of proximity and continuity is established throughout the year at Teatro Taborda. It is in this context that the Junior, Teen and Senior Theatre Clubs of Teatro da Garagem publicly present the developed work. The Theatre Clubs aim at promoting the passion for theatre the artistic practices, revealing the theatrical universe and the fantastic possibilities that it upholds
This year the Cycle also includes the presentation of the CoLeGaS concert – Lesbian, Gay and Sympathisers Choir of ILGA Portugal, within the scope of the Pride’s 22nd edition.
The CoLeGaS – Lesbian, Gay and Sympathisers Choir of ILGA Portugal, founded in October 2008, aims at contributing through music to a more inclusive, egalitarian… and fun society!
Following the success of the participation in Munich at the Various Voices 2018 LGBTI Choir Festival in May 2018, CoLeGaS performs again this year at the Teatro Taborda’s stage for another memorable night. Having been founded by maestro Alberto Pacheco in 2008, it was later directed, from 2014, by João Henriques, and it is now led by the master Rosie Brown, since November 2017.
This year we invited the Staccato Choir, directed by maestro João Sebastião, to share the stage with us on this great evening. Come celebrate diversity with CoLeGaS and Staccato, we promise to cheer you up with a rainbow of musical styles.
The Staccato Choir resulted from a challenge made by the singing students of Professor João Sebastião. It began with only 8 elements, who performed its first concert, in Palhais, at the invitation of the Choir “O Tempo Canta”. Still in its first season, the Choir has collaborated with a Philharmonic Band (Bands dos Bombeiros de Loures), amplifying its repertoire with songs with instrumental accompaniment. After the inclusion of the pianist Viktoriya Gakman, the Staccato Choir has intercalated its performances between “a cappella” songs and songs with piano accompaniment. With almost 3 seasons of existence, the Choir has performed in 25 concerts, participating at the Encounters of Choirs in Lisbon, Estremoz, Vila Viçosa, Vila Franca de Xira and Peniche. It has performed in nationally renowned venues such as Teatro de São Luiz (main hall), Cine-Teatro Joaquim de Almeida, Centro Cultural de Cascais, among others. In addition to the concert format, it has been invited to various types of events, such as Weddings, Inauguration of Exhibitions and Animation in Museums. The Staccato Choir is dedicated to the repertoire of Music of Cinema (Sound Tracks), Broadway Musicals and Ethnic Music.
